Debora Pavila and Julija Jerneva give a series of lectures on competition law to Latvian judges Nov 23, 2009

In November this year, Varul Vilgerts Smaliukas partners, Ms Debora Pavila and Ms Julija Jerneva began their series of seminars on competition law to Latvian judges. Julija and Debora are lecturing alongside representatives of the Latvian Competition Council, and the seminars are organised by the Latvian Judicial Training Centre with funding from the European Commission and the Soros foundation.
The seminars focus on all major aspects of Latvian and European competition law, and the programme includes such topics as: basic concepts of competition law, the definition and significance of relevant market and market power, prohibited agreements and abuse of dominant position. The seminar programme is structured with a view to covering and analyzing not only the theory, but also the case-law of the Latvian and European courts, as well as the practice of the Latvian Competition Council and the European Commission.
