Law Firm VARUL has welcomed former District Prosecutor Dmitri Teplõhh from the Department for Corruption and Economic Crimes at the Northern District Prosecutor´s Office to join its team in May 2012. Attorney-at-Law Dmitri Teplõhh will advise clients on white-collar crime, focusing mainly on offences concerning taxes, intellectual property and corruption.
According to Managing Partner and Head of the Tax Department, Helmut Pikmets, the firm has reason to rejoice, “The workload of our tax team has significantly increased – our clients trust us with more principal and sizable cases. As a prosecutor, Dmitri has been involved in numerous complex criminal cases giving us now the opportunity to focus on tax litigation even more.”
Partner Paul Varul says that Dmitri joining the team is good news for the whole firm, because he contributes to the white-collar work group in a wider sense. Varul also values his academic pursuits: “I’m very pleased that Dmitri is continuing his doctoral studies. We consider it important that our lawyers constantly improve their legal knowledge”.
“Joining VARUL is undoubtedly a very interesting career step for me,” says Dmitri Teplõhh. “I believe that almost eight years at the District Prosecutor’s Office has given me a versatile experience baggage required in an attorney’s work. I’m happy to be able to put my knowledge into practice at one of the top firms in Estonia.”
