TrustLaw Connect has published a report “Creating Jobs in Europe: Legal
and Regulatory Frameworks of Microenterprises and Microcredit in Europe”
to which VARUL contributed the Baltic chapters on microfinance and
self-employment legislation, corporate vehicles and taxation applicable
to small businesses.
This report, commissioned by TrustLaw Connect, was researched and compiled on a pro-bono basis for ADIE (
Association for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship) by law firms
Latham & Watkins and
Orrick, with the assistance of 17 other firms and in-house legal teams across Europe.
The report was also presented by the
European Commission at the conference ”
Improving the regulatory environment for microcredit”, held on 2 December this year in Brussels.
Moreover, Orrick, Latham & Watkins, together with 17 other law firms, including VARUL, won the TrustLaw Connection’s “
Impact Award”. The award was announced on 5 December at the Museum of London.
