Varul Vilgerts Smaliukas announces new partners Dec 22, 2010
As of December 2010 Varul Vilgerts Smaliukas will welcome three new
partners – attorneys at law Leonid Tolstov, Martin Tamme and Vaido
Põldoja. From now on the Estonian office will have seven partners in
total.
Attorney at law Leonid Tolstov is an expert in real estate and construction law and advises clients on various corporate matters such as company foundation, mergers, divisions and liquidation of companies. He has been involved in issues concerning the right of pre-emption, the right of superficies and the right of security. Leonid Tolstov is also an experienced litigator having represented his clients in several important corporate, real estate and construction disputes.
Attorney at law Martin Tamme specialises in real estate and construction law. He also advises clients in M&A transactions and capital investments. He is a strong litigator and has represented clients in some of the most complex court disputes, including a case against an incumbent railway operator regarding railway infrastructure usage fees, and the first compulsory demolition in Estonian legal practice. He is one of the authors of the commentaries to the Law of Obligations Act has also been involved in drafting several legal acts.
Attorney at law Vaido Põldoja advises clients on all matters pertaining competition law, state aid and electronic communications regulation. He also has considerable expertise in advising clients on taxation matters, particularly those pertaining to corporate, international and VAT taxation. In addition to transactional advisory, he also represents clients in administrative and court proceedings. Vaido Põldoja has published a series of articles and conducted seminars on competition and tax law. Recently he was a national rapporteur during the preparation of an EU-27 State Aid Private Enforcement study for the European Commission in conjunction with Hogan Lovells.
