Vaido Põldoja works with firms in various sectors advising and representing them on all aspects of competition law. His work experience includes representing a telecoms operator in an action for damages; a global pharmaceuticals company in negotiating a distribution agreement; and an infrastructure company in criminal proceedings concerning anticompetitive agreements. He is also experienced in preparing instructions for police and government officers requiring entry to premises, and general compliance manuals.
Vaido Põldoja has considerable expertise in advising clients regarding EU taxation, income tax and VAT, and is also proficient in preparing M&A transactions. Vaido Põldoja has extensive knowledge of international taxation having advised several cross-border transactions including offshore jurisdictions. He also advises and represents clients in tax disputes and was involved in the Sylvester (Stora Enso Timber) case, the largest tax dispute in the Baltics.
In addition to advising and representing clients, Vaido Põldoja has published a series of articles and conducted seminars on competition and tax law. He was also an Estonian national rapporteur during the preparation of an EU-27 State Aid study for the European Commission in conjunction with Lovells, and contributes regularly to e-Competitions, a database of national competition case law established by the Paris Institute of Competition Law.
